This Move Signals Strong Commitment to North American Horticulture Market
De Lier, Netherlands, May 28th, 2025
WPS, a global leader in logistic and delivery automation solutions for the horticulture industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Drew Johnson as Business Development Director for North America. Johnson, a seasoned horticulture expert, brings with him more than two decades of industry experience, most recently serving in a key commercial role at AdeptAg and, prior to that, at Bellpark Horticulture.
The hiring of Johnson, who is based in Vancouver, on the back of WPS’s growth in North America during recent years, most recently emphasized by the awarded contract for the first delivery system to Spring Meadow Nursery in Michigan, marks a significant strategic move by WPS as it creates a local presence in the North American market. Known for its innovative and customizable automation systems, WPS is aiming to meet the growing demand for efficiency and productivity in commercial greenhouses across the U.S. and Canada.
“Drew’s reputation in the industry speaks for itself,” said Conré Oostrom, CEO of WPS. “His deep understanding of grower needs, technical expertise, and long-standing relationships throughout the horticulture sector make him the ideal person to lead our growth in North America. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Drew’s transition to WPS underscores the company's growing influence in the North American horticultural landscape. At Bellpark, he played a pivotal role in its growth from a nascent team of a few individuals to a formidable industry competitor, laying the foundation for the company's successful acquisition by AdeptAg. He continued to drive commercial strategies and empower growers through the adoption of advanced automation technologies. His move is a clear testament to his belief in WPS’s forward-thinking vision and capabilities.
"I'm excited to begin this new chapter with the innovative and talented team at WPS," says Drew. "I'm deeply grateful for the invaluable experiences and opportunities that have shaped my career, especially working closely with the North American growers. I understand their high expectations for support, and my commitment is to not only meet but ultimately surpass those standards. WPS's compelling vision and advanced logistic and sorting solutions are clearly resonating with growers. I'm eager to leverage my previous experience to strengthen the support in North America and accelerate new growth."
With this appointment, WPS reaffirms its long-term commitment to serving North American growers with cutting-edge automation solutions that reduce labor, improve workflow and utilization of floorspace, while also enhancing crop quality.
